FAM – Futures and Mentoring

What we do

One charity, several ways in. Young people start wherever feels right and move between them as life changes.

How FAM works

One pathway, from 11 to 25

Nobody walks through our door with one neat problem. The lad who comes for football often ends up asking for help with a CV. The girl referred for mentoring often stays for the netball. So rather than run separate projects that don't talk to each other, we run one pathway from 11 to 25, and the same faces are there the whole way along.

  1. 11

    Stay on track

    Ages 11 to 16

Mentoring, sport and positive activities that keep young people in school, out of trouble and connected to people who believe in them.

  2. 16

    Next steps

    Ages 16 to 18

Steady support through the jump from school to college, training or an apprenticeship, which is exactly when many young people drift.

  3. 18

    Futures

    Ages 18 to 25

Confidence, skills and a real route into learning or work for young people who are not in education, employment or training, in line with the government's Youth Guarantee.

Ways in

Fam mentoring

Mentoring

A trained mentor who meets you regularly, actually listens, and sticks around for as long as it helps. Not a box-ticking exercise.

Fam football session

Sport and activities

Football, netball, fitness, boxing and multi-sport. Free, kit provided, and nobody gets picked last. More than 2,000 people took part in our sport and activities in 2021 to 2022 alone.

Skills and work

CVs, mock interviews, placements and volunteering, plus help getting to Youth Hubs, training and apprenticeships. Over 100 young people came through our employability programme in 2023 to 2024.
